4c. Appointments – Payment
There are various ways to pay for healthcare, but most of us will be using some form of health insurance. There are references online that explain the different types of health insurance, such as the HMO or PPO networks, and I will try to find the ones that are most useful.
However, one of the things that a lot of those sites have not focused on as much, but that you might want to pay attention to is when there are going to be open enrollment periods, or if there are particular events that would allow you to enroll in a different healthcare insurance. Sometimes the healthcare needs that we had before a crisis, which guided our prior decisions about healthcare plans, might not match what our needs are after the crisis. Thus, after a crisis is a good time to reevaluate whether or not the current health plan that you are enrolled in is still the one that is most beneficial for you.
The other thing that you might want to look into is some of the out-of-pocket expense options. The two main ones are the FSA and the HSA. There are some differences between the two, but the basic idea is that you can get some degree of tax relief from your medical expenses.
